For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
The ancient Greek philosopher Plato is widely regarded as the one who developed many of the modern ideas and principles that have influenced spirituality, politics, and science in the western world. He was a thinker who wrote and taught about how to think. Even though his writings disappeared and only copies from centuries later have been preserved, modern students still read them and revere what he said. What influences your mind and shapes your thoughts? Television? Marvel movies? The junk on TikTok?
You and I have to determine that we will feed our minds and our souls on healthy wisdom so God directed 40 authors who wrote 66 books that make up our Bible. The stories of Noah, and Samson, and King David, as well as other books like the Proverbs of Solomon were written to teach us how to live and walk with God. Yes, the Bible contains ugly examples of what not to do, but it offers one thing that ancient philosophers cannot. Living life without God means you follow philosophies where you are completely dependent on yourself to rise up above the difficulties of life.
The Bible tells us of a loving God who sees all that is going on and acts on our behalf to order the world in front of us with a purpose. He promises to cause all things to work together for our good as we commit to loving Him. He gives us hope. The Bible reminds us that God has been faithful in the past, He will be faithful today and He will be faithful tomorrow. Saturate your mind with God's Word so that you can be encouraged. Read a portion in the morning and take one verse with you on paper that you can read several times throughout the day. This will direct your thoughts and give you hope. And this kind of hope will not disappoint.
